About MagL33To
Just who is MagL33To!?
MagL33To (aka Mags, aka L33To, aka B-Boy StringZ, aka Stefan Benjamin) is a man of many names and faces. Simultaneously a web designer and developer, a fashionista, an anime and manga fan, a b-boy, a gamer, a television presenter, a sponsored and internationally competing yo-yo player, a music fanatic and a video creator and editor.
Yes, MagL33To is indeed a man of many skills and abilities. His passion for computers and gaming began at an early age, with MagL33To citing playing Galactix with his sister and tinkering with Windows 3.1 on his father's 486 as some of the most influential experiences in his life. From this he began venturing into the components of the computer itself, both to have a look around and with a view to repairing them. This eventually led up to him building his first computer from scratch at the age of 13 with his father funding the parts. MagL33To went on to study Computing at A-Level and read Computer Science as his Degree, graduating in 2008 from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Wait. He plays with... Yo-yos??
MagL33To first began yo-yoing back in secondary school during the boom of 1999. While he had fun playing yo-yo with his friends, he was never that great at it and stopped throwing some time in 2000 when the boom died down. Skip forward to November 2004 when, while tidying his bedroom MagL33To found his old Tropical Storm yo-yo and began playing with it again. Intrigued to see what was going on with yo-yos at the time he went online to re-learn his old tricks and promptly had his mind blown. The videos he saw had people doing incredible tricks in them that he couldn't comprehend. He quickly bought a Yomega Sabre Wing Fireball and learned the basics of new-school yo-yoing. Later that year he bought a YoYoJam Lyn Fury as a Christmas present to himself and continued developing his skills. MagL33To began competing at the end of 2005 in the UK South Regional Contest without much success until the UK National Yo-yo Competition of 2007 when he came third in the 1A division. Since then he has been consistently rated one of the top yo-yo players in the country. This was reflected at the end of that year when he was offered sponsorship by both the yo-yo company Hspin and the string company G-String. Since then MagL33To has continued to compete in the UK, and in both the 2008 and 2009 International Yo-yo Open in New York. MagL33To continues to innovate and improve and is a strong candidate for 2010 UK National Champion.
He's a presenter as well!?
MagL33To first began presenting during the summer of 2007 when boredom and a camera led to him starting a weekly vlogging series on YouTube called the L33To Logs. In the Logs MagL33To would speak about his week and various topics of interest to him. This garnered him a small but dedicated online following. In addition to the L33To Logs, MagL33To continued to publish yo-yoing videos to his Youtube account, and in April 2008 one of his videos was featured on the front page of both Youtube UK and Ireland, and the global Youtube site. His video being featured greatly increased traffic to his Youtube page and his number of subscribers. To date the video has almost 1 million views. This brought him to the attention of Mike from Whoa TV who has hired MagL33To on multiple occasions to review films and interview celebrities.
MagL33To has also hosted both the UCL One World Week Breaking Competition 2009 and the Urban Lifestyles Breaking Tournament 2009 and is an accomplished event MC.
